It’s about you.

Many people would rather not know much about their counsellor, and if that’s you, then there’s no need to read any of what follows. But if you do need some information, I hope what’s here will help.
There are links to blog pieces I’ve written on particular subjects.

You can read my reflections on my work in my Blog.

Here are some selected pieces.

Trainings.

I trained as a psychotherapeutic counsellor at the Re-Vision Centre in London, qualifying in Integrative Transpersonal Counselling in 2014. I completed a three-year training in Somatic Experiencing, a body-oriented method of psychotherapy in 2018.

Personal & Work.

The father of two grown-up children and a daughter and step-daughter, I’ve lived in Sussex since 2003. My first degree was in English Literature from St Catherine’s College, Oxford and I find literaturedance and other arts useful in my work. In 1996 I founded a sport events company which I ran for nearly 20 years, giving me useful understanding of the world of work and of people. I’m a fan of Liverpool Football Club.

I’m the founder and joint co-ordinator of Brighton Psychedelics, which campaigns for the regulated use of psychedelic substances in a therapeutic context. I offer integration sessions to help people who have had challenging or meaningful psychedelic experiences. I have spoken at conferences on the connections between psychedelics and transpersonal psychology.

Eastern Philosophy

I’ve had a life-long interest in Indian philosophy and spirituality. In 2003 I published a book, Eastern Philosophy: The Greatest Thinkers and Sages from Ancient to Modern Times, which has been republished several times in the UK and US.

I continue to have an interest in ancient India and have extensively studied and written on the Upanishads. Some of the imagery on this website was inspired by tantric devotional artworks, which I talk about here.

I’m a member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and am bound by their ethical frameworks.

I’m a member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and the Somatic Experiencing Association.
